As a local business situated in the heart of South Molton, we wanted to host a blog to update you on life at The George and to celebrate our surrounding area. Having a blog will give us the opportunity to share updates with you, local news stories and upcoming events to look out for.
A Warm Welcome
If you’re new to us, firstly, welcome to The George! The George, owned by Mark Tucker since 2016, is an independent hotel in central South Molton, North Devon. The hotel is home to sixteen bedrooms, each fitted out with cosy country decor, additionally offering breakfast to our guests. We also host a coffee and lounge bar which is open to everybody! With coffee and cake served from 9am, to a range of alcoholic beverages for a relaxed evening drink – there is something for everybody here at The George.
We pride ourselves on being a home away from home, offering the warmest of welcomes and a comfortable stay (no matter if that is overnight or for coffee and cake on a rainy day in our favourite historic market town)! Nothing is too much trouble for our team, and we genuinely look forward to having you walk through our door!!
There is so much that we look forward to updating you on! From hotel renovations to our ‘Paw Of Approval’ social media project featuring George from The George (our resident cockapoo), we are glad to bring you along for the ride. If there is anything you might like us to blog about in the coming seasons, then drop us a message as we’d love to chat about all that is going on in South Molton and the broader area – in addition to updating you on our own exciting ventures.

Lastly, we just want to acknowledge the phenomenal support that we’ve had, since opening and in light of COVID-19. The team have loved welcoming familiar faces back to The George, as well as greeting those of you who are new to us! It is wonderful to see that The George continues to be a much-loved business in the South Molton community – we cannot thank you enough for your enthusiasm and love for our hotel.
