March 24, 2023Those of you who have known The George Hotel over time will know that eating at The George used to be a prominent feature of what we offered at the hotel. With times changing, we shifted our energy into offering the best hotel experience we could and, in order to do this, we reduced our in-house food offerings. Despite this, our breakfast, coffee & cake and afternoon tea have been fan favourites of this community and our guests for some time. So, with this in mind, we wanted to update you on what we will now be offering at The George! We hope that these will be additions that excite you as much as us.
Breakfast For Everybody
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why should we reserve it just for our overnight guests? From March 1st, you can join us for breakfast at the George, regardless of whether you’re staying with us (pre-booking is advised, although we’ll always do our best to accommodate you). Serving until 10am on a weekday and 11am over the weekend (including Sunday), breakfast at The George Hotel would be ideal for a morning breakfast date, commuters to South Molton or locals who just fancy having us cook for you!
Choose from a delicious cooked breakfast – prepared with local produce – or a small continental selection including cereals and toast. Made with love and served with a smile, there’s a place in laid in our breakfast room with your name all over it!
Elevenses, Savoury Snacks and a Light Lunch
Coffee and cake have been a favourite at The George, growing in popularity with locals in South Molton. It has been wonderful to see community groups, individuals, friends and families come together to use The George as an informal spot for elevenses. In light of this, we knew that we wanted to offer something a little different to you all, a number of savoury snacks that would be a welcome addition to our current menu. So, we hope you’ll be thrilled to know that we will now be offering cheese scones, organic soup and sausage rolls – in addition to our current selection of in-house baked cakes, scones with cream and jam (of course) and teacakes!

Weekend Afternoon Tea at The George Hotel
Our updated programme for eating at The George would not be complete without commenting on Afternoon Tea! As the home of Devonshire Cream Teas, we felt it was only right to begin offering our afternoon tea packages to all of you. Featuring sandwiches, the iconic scone and a selection of miniature cakes – afternoon tea at The George is. an experience that you won’t forget.
Whether you dress your scone with cream then jam or you’re the other way inclined, we’d be privileged to serve you. Available for booking now (with launch day set for Mother’s Day 2023), afternoons at The George (2pm – 4pm) are about to get a whole lot grander!!
